The Gaither Road Train Crossing is located near Sykesville, MD and situated approximately at mile 30 of the Baltimore & Ohio (B & O) Old Main Line, the first commercial rail line in the United States. It is still in use today as evidenced in this video.

A Drive Through Annapolis, MD

A quick drive through Annapolis starting with Rowe Boulevard heading into the city and swinging over to Church Circle via Northwest Street; around Church Circle to Duke of Gloucester Street, turning on Green Street to get to Main Street; following Main Street to the top and once again to Church Circle very briefly to turn onto School Street over to State Circle; next turning on Maryland Avenue over to King George Street down by the Naval Academy entrance to the Randall Street; next is Prince George Street which we follow all the way up to College Ave by St. John's College and finally making one last turn on King George Street again, this time heading away from the city as we finish our drive. Annapolis, MD - Church Circle Summer 2010

On one of the nicest days of the summer, ALTV filmed Church Circle in Annapolis, MD. Church Circle is one of two circles that were part of the original baroque street plan modeled after the great capitols of Europe and designed for Annapolis as determined by Royal Governor Francis Nicholson. The second circle is State Circle which contains the capitol.

The centerpiece of Church Circle is St. Anne's Episcopal church, founded in 1692. The current church is the third to grace the site with the original which was built around 1700 being razed in 1775 to make way for a new church which eventually succombed to a furnace fire which decimated most of the interior in 1858. The third and final church was built in 1858, save the steeple which was completed in 1866 due to the civil war. This is St Anne's current church building.

Also featured is Reymolds Tavern which was established in 1777 and still operates today with the Sly Fox Pub in the cellar, first floor tea rooms, dining room and lodging on the second floor consisting of two prestigious suites and one single bedroom.

Additionally, there is the 44 room Maryland Inn which incorporates the 18th Century Treaty of Paris Restaurant and is where Ben Franklin and John Adams are said to have had a pint or two at the inn's tavern.

Historic Easton, MD

Smithsonian Air and Space Museum

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall. The building opened in December, 2003, and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall including the Space Shuttle "Enterprise".

There have been three videos posted at Annapolis Landscape TV recently. The videos are also available on YouTube.

The first was an impromptu shooting at Assateague Island National Seashore on Maryland east coast. We were actually in the area to visit my brother and sister-in-law who were staying in the area on vacation. During our visit it was our plan to visit the grave site of my wife and sister-in-law's great grandparents. Afterward we headed down to Ocean City outskirts for dinner and since we were a little early we took a drive through the park at Assateague. Since I had my camera and the wild ponies were so obliging, I took some shots of them along with a hitherto unknown to me, remnant of an old road that was part of an ocean resort community wiped out by a storm. One never knows when an opportunity will present itself.

The second video was of the Christmas decorations and lights in the Historic District of Annapolis, MD. During a stroll around town during the early evening I took some video of the lights. It was a fairly quiet evening considering it was December 15th. The weather was fairly warm and while seasonable it was just in time before the major snow storm hit just a few days later.

The third video was another impromptu shooting. I accompanied my son-in-law and grandson on their trip to the B & O railroad museum. While the day was more about my grandson's visit to see the trains, I got there a little early and shot some video, also sneaking in a few shots along the way. There's a lot more to see and it's hard to fit everything you'd like to into a 5 minute video. The purpose is to give the viewer a sense of the place or event and if avaialable furnish a link to a website where they can get further information if desired. This was my second visit to the B & O Museum and I've learned that there is a sister site in Ellicott City - the nation's first train terminal. the building is the original and was the first station built along the then fledgling train line. I'll definitely be making a visit there. Guys and trains - What's not to like!
